Whether you’re an experienced welder or a beginner, you most likely understand the frustrations associated with spatter. Made up of small metal particles, spatter tends to stick to your workspace, your project and you and hardens as it cools, which can make cleanup a time-consuming chore. In addition, spatter can clog your torch head and causing wire feed issues and burnback, resulting in downtime and equipment maintenance.
While spatter cannot be completed eliminated, you can minimize it significantly with the use of anti-spatter welding solutions. Traditionally, anti-spatter is a petroleum- or water-based product that contains a silicone or similar ingredient that prevents the spatter from sticking. However, these products don’t last long and must be frequently reapplied.
ProStar™ Ceramic Anti-Spatter was developed to overcome the consistent need for re-application of traditional anti-spatter formulas in order to help prevent weld spatter build-up on equipment such as MIG gun tips and nozzles, as well as fixtures. Unlike traditional formulations which need to be reapplied many times throughout a shift, ProStar Ceramic Anti-Spatter provides long-lasting protection — a single coating provides protection for up to eight consecutive hours of welding.
Designed to help you protect your productivity, the quick-drying formula typically dries within seconds, depending upon the temperature and thickness of the application. Once applied and dry, this spray creates a barrier between your equipment/workpiece and spatter. This barrier helps prevent excessive spatter and contaminants from building up on the applied surfaces and helps provide lasting protection to consumables, meaning less time cleaning up work pieces, less time spent applying and a longer life for your consumables.
