Heliox Heliox is the term used to describe mixtures of helium and
oxygen. The mixtures listed are typically prescribed for
20% Oxygen patients with severe dyspnea or upper airway obstruction.
Balance Helium
When combined with oxygen, helium reduces the density of the
30% Oxygen breathable mix. A 70/30 helium-oxygen mix is 2.3 times less dense
Balance Helium than air and an 80/20 mixture is 3 times less. (See chart below)
